I appreciate that there is a place for vouchers. I don’t appreciate that while the state sends more money per student to private schools than our district, they still want the public school to provide transportation, extracurriculars, etc. In addition, a bill that would have provided clarity on where that money goes, and how students perform was stripped of accountability and transparency provisions. Now with the huge increase in voucher expenses, state leadership is saying they can’t afford the cost of education. Please let your representatives know that in order for Ohio to stay competitive, we must support the education of todays students who will become tomorrows workforce. For over 90% of Ohio students, that means supporting the public school system. … See MoreSee Less

I do not believe there is any place for vouchers-that system simply allows public money to go to private companies with no accountability. I had one child graduate from Lakota and one graduate from St. X-and I never would have expected the public to cover any part of my son’s education. And we do donate to St. X to help provide scholarships for students that otherwise would not be able to attend-and that’s how it should work.
Lakota Public Schools: For the 2022-23 school year, before state legislators made EdChoice Expansion vouchers universal, 114 students from Lakota used them to pay tuition at a private school. That jumped to 2,027 students during the 2023-24 school year (the fourth highest number of voucher students in the state from a single district); only 176 qualified as low-income. In the 2024-2025 school year to date the voucher students now stand at 2,245 with only 114 qualifying as low income. Ohio funds Lakota’s public schools at a rate of $2,950 per student in foundation aid. Ohio funds private school tuition vouchers up to $8,408 per student.
I just called Rep. Hall and Senator Lang to voice my support for fair school funding. Thanks for sharing this information!
Very Very sad what they're doing with an entire generation of school children for political gain.

Bring cash for tips! Last time I went I could pay for the meal with a card but could not leave a tip that way.
We are all heartbroken to learn of Joshua’s passing. No words can adequately express enough empathy for this family as they walk this path of mourning.
I’m sure this hits very close to home for other families too. Here is a resource that might help others in our community. 💔
